Sophie Berude: Young Citizen of the Year Finalist
Sophie’s proud moment
Sophie Berude is a Young Citizen Award Finalist in our region, Lake Macquarie, in New South Wales, Australia!
Sophie, aged 12, is recognized among many inspiring young and senior finalists for their sporting, artistic, and community spirit.
This year, Sophie is one of three finalists recognized for her outstanding demonstration of leadership, skills, and community contribution. The young finalists are all under the age of 21!
It’s a proud mother moment for me! And as her readers who follow her journey, you know how passionate she is about helping others.
The finalists will be celebrated, and the category winners will be announced at a gala event on March 11. We can’t wait!
Sophie Berude is Crunching for Kids with Cancer
The announcement coincides with Random Acts of Kindness Day and the launch of Sophie’s latest fundraiser for Redkite, a charity raising funds to support families of children affected by cancer.
Sophie is proud to be one of the faces of this year’s Crunch for Kids campaign.
My inspiring girl and I will be completing 50 crunches a day in March to positively impact the lives of families facing cancer.
How does Redkite support families?
Redkite guides families when all hope is lost, when their world is turning upside down, and they need someone to listen.
Redkite gives families access to information, counseling, financial assistance, and bereavement support.
A donation of as little as $25 can provide a meal for families when parents must give up work to care for their child with cancer.
You can donate here if you would like to support us as we get crunching!
