Giving Back with RedKite
When my daughter Sophie Berude was diagnosed with cancer six years ago, it became part of my life’s purpose to bring awareness to childhood cancer.
Sophie’s diagnosis with Leukemia was the biggest shock my family has ever faced. When doctors told us she might have had only two weeks to live, it was the most challenging day of our lives, but she fought and won!
RedKite, an Australian charity, was there for us throughout the battle. I’m proud to be an ambassador for RedKite, which supports families of children fighting cancer.
I had a fabulous day in Sydney last week talking on behalf of RedKite to the Regional Manager Team for Cole’s Express. They do a fantastic job fundraising in creative ways for RedKite to help support families facing childhood cancer. It was an honor sharing our story and expressing heartfelt gratitude for the difference they’re making.
When Sophie was undergoing cancer treatment, she would have intense food cravings because of the steroid injections she was receiving. Her cravings would put a pregnant woman to shame.
She would crave steak sandwiches and scream the house down for my husband, Paul, and me to make her a late-night sandwich!
The humble steak sandwich is now part of our family’s cancer recovery story. We’re proud to be part of a national recipe e-book for sandwiches launched by Coles and RedKite.
Did you know that a percentage of the profits from every loaf of Coles-brand bread goes to RedKite to help families of children with cancer?
Since 2016, Coles has raised $35 million for RedKite!
